Hourly childcare
Association M.A.M.A.
The hourly childcare at the M.A.M.A. association is located near the university campus at Attemsgasse 21.
This childcare option is available from the next working day.
The facility functions like an age-extended kindergarten group. A professional, stable team lovingly cares for the children.
The children's group is relatively stable, as most parents use this form of childcare over a longer period of time.
Meals must be brought in by the parents.
Registration must be made between 9am and 11am under the phone number 0316/328747.
You can get to know the staff and premises without obligation at an open meeting organised on Wednesdays at 10am.
Financial support
The University of Graz subsidises hourly childcare for employees and students, currently limited to 10 hours per week, subject to budgetary availability.
Please send an e-mail for the application form.
If you need more hours, you can purchase additional 10-hour blocks at the regular price without limit directly at M.A.M.A..
This subsidy is graduated according to family income.
Cannot be combined with the subsidy of the University of Graz.

Emergency mum ("Notfallmama") project
Do you have appointments that cannot be postponed while your child is ill or not yet well enough to go back to the childminder or to nursery/kindergarten/school? Is there no one in your private network who can step in at short notice and the sitter does not have time?
An emergency mum ("Notfallmama") from the KiB - children care association can step in. You can find information and contact details for the emergency mum project here.

Childcare at (academic) events
Offering childcare as part of academic events is a modern and important contribution by the University of Graz to supporting international families.
By offering family services and childcare, you are addressing a larger target group, regardless of how many will make use of it.
Time frame for childcare
The provided childcare should be open at least half an hour before the start and after the end of the event. This provides time for parents to say goodbye without time pressure.
Sometimes the end of the event turns into an informal exchange - childcare should be open for longer if possible.
Premises
Suitable premises for childcare must be reserved in good time: close enough to the event venue for short travelling times, but ideally out of sight. For larger groups of children, access to an outdoor area and/or a quiet room is recommended.
Find out about the kids' room centrally located on the University of Graz campus.
Carers
Usually only very few children come. Are there interested and competent people in the team, and is it possible to pay them?
In the next field you will find contacts where you can book competent staff who will also take care of insurance, materials etc.
If you do not want to or cannot organise childcare yourself, here are some contacts.
Tips for clarifying the arrangements: Dates, times, group size and carers, materials to bring, location, registration deadline.
Water jug and drinking cup, serviettes, handkerchiefs, kitchen roll.
If fruit and snacks are provided, make sure that the food and quantities are age-appropriate, check for intolerances in advance!
Alternatively, ask parents for a snack (have the snack box labelled with the children's names).
Cushions, blankets, small supply of toys and books.
Ask parents in advance for their own equipment (cuddly toy and/or blanket, favourite toy) and have these labelled as well.
Mention the offer early on when advertising the event and gathering interested parents.
Immediate binding registration tends to deter families.
Experience has shown that only a very small number of people register for childcare.
Registration for childcare by the registration deadline or as agreed with the provider (see above).
If no group is formed, individual solutions for individual children are possible.
