Financial support for family carers

Here we provide you with information on financial matters. If you have any specific questions, please contact us directly - we will gladly support you!

The care allowance is a contribution to partially cover additional care-related expenses. The prerequisite is a care and nursing requirement of more than 65 hours per month for children, adolescents or adults. This so-called care level is determined by experts when applying for the care allowance.

The application must always be submitted to the responsible insurance provider.

Recommendations for the application

In the event of a sudden need for care in the family, to relieve a carer or if the care situation needs to be (re)organised, care leave or part-time care leave can be agreed with the employer for a period of 1 to 3 months. Based on the agreement of care leave, part-time care leave or family end-of-life care leave/part-time family end-of-life care leave with the employer, there is a legal entitlement to care leave allowance under certain conditions.

Application for care leave allowance

Allowances for substitute care

If family carers are unable to provide care for important reasons (illness, holiday or other important reasons), they can apply for an allowance from the support fund to finance professional and/or private substitute care.
